Weekly Garden Update: 2

Pictured above is proof that non-GMO seeds grow perfectly. These are corn stalks just 2 weeks after planting corn kernels. They are growing like crazy, everyday there is a noticeable difference in their size. The only problem we have had is the chipmunks pulling a few out of the ground.

This past week everything in our garden has grown so much! The zucchini, spaghetti squash, peppers, brussels sprouts, and green bean plants have all doubled in size and a lot of the plants have blooms on them. The tomato plants are doing excellent as well, they have all grown several inches and have a ton of new leaves.

Last Sunday I went around the garden and planted the extra seeds we bought. Since one of our zucchini plants bit the dust, I planted some seeds in its place and in an extra row down the middle of the plants. I also planted several leek seeds around the main plants. Neither have sprouted yet but I’m hoping they will soon. The basil and parsley seeds I planted have just started to peek through the ground.

The shallots and garlic are also doing well. Several of the shallots have poked through the ground, as well as one lone garlic.

The potatoes are already growing like crazy, there are even a few sprouts coming up from last year near the shallots.

We finally figured out a lattice for the cucumber plants, well my mom did. She created this tepee with some kindling we had and wrapped the top with garden twine. The plants have been doing well since we planted them, they have doubled in height and have little vines starting.
